On May 12th, 2022 prof. Aleš Richter, the Vice-Dean for Science and Research and prof. Petr Suchomel, the Vice-Dean for the External and International Affairs, met with prof. Dr. Daniel Raabe from the Berufsakademie Sachsen in Bautzen in Germany. The meeting took place at the Faculty of Health Studies.
Berufsakademie Sachsen offers Bachelor´s Study Programmes like medical technology. It offers dual study, i.e. the academy provides students with theory and lectures, and the company provides practical training. After finishing their studies, the students either continue working for the company or find a different place. Academy strives for quality education. There are about 600 students at the premises in Bautzen. The Academy has about 30 - 35 students in biomedical engineering per school year. About 60% of the graduates work as biomedical engineers in hospitals, where they train the staff or provide maintenance of the medical equipment. More and more students wish to continue their studies in the follow-up Master´s Study Programmes.
Both the Faculty of Health Studies and the Berufsakademie Sachsen are interested in staff and student exchange and cooperation mainly in the area of biomedical technology and research. Further details of the cooperation will be discussed during the meeting in June 2022 in Bautzen.
