Biomedical Technology is a 3-year bachelor´s study programme completed by a final state exam made up of an oral exam and a defence of the student´s diploma thesis. The graduates can continue their studies in the follow-up master´s study programme Biomedical Engineer, which is offered by our faculty. It allows the students to broaden their skills and abilities. It is a full-time study programme. All the subjects are taught in the Czech language only.

The first year of the study programme focuses on general subjects. Subsequent years focus on more specialised subjects which help the students to become biomedical technicians. Students also undergo practical training at various facilities providing healthcare both in and outside the Liberec Region.

It is a multi-disciplinary study programme providing students with a broad range of knowledge - anatomy, biology, physiology, medicine, first aid, as well as programming, IT, technology, measuring of physical quantities, sensors, mechanics, biomechanics, signal processing, mathematical modelling or cybernetics.

Graduates of this programme are fully qualified to become biomedical technicians. It is a non-medical profession in a healthcare environment. Technicians can work mainly at hospitals and are responsible for the smooth running of medical equipment and for staff training. Moreover, they can be directly involved in the treatment of a patient as technicians (cardiology, dialysis, neurology, etc.). Thanks to their unique spectrum of skills and knowledge, the graduates can easily find various work positions outside the hospital environment.

Students become qualified to work with electrical appliances in the Czech Republic (Decree No 50/1978 Coll., on professional qualifications in electrical engineering, as amended).

It is possible for students to study abroad within the Erasmus + student exchange programme or take part in a summer school abroad.
