General Nursing is a 3-year bachelor´s study programme completed by a final state exam made up of an oral exam and defence of the student´s diploma thesis. It is a full-time study programme. All the subjects are taught in the Czech language only.
The programme aims at acquiring various nursing skills, ranging from basic to specialised ones.
The first year of the study programme provides students with knowledge of core subjects like anatomy, physiology, psychology, pathology, theory of nursing or nursing procedures. The subsequent years focus on emergency health care in surgical and internal fields, podiatry, urgent care and many others.
All the theoretical knowledge acquired during the lectures is a basis for subsequent practical training at hospitals in the whole of the Czech Republic. The closest cooperation is with the Liberec Regional Hospital located close to the premises of the Faculty of Health Studies.
Students get training at various hospital departments, paediatric departments, departments of urgent medicine, emergency care or intensive care units. They also get to know what home care entails. They get familiar with preventive, diagnostic, rehabilitation, urgent, palliative or dispensary care.
General nurses graduates can work in hospital facilities, urgent care centres, primary care centres and many other areas. They are an inevitable part of medical teams.
It is possible for students to study abroad within the Erasmus + student exchange programme or take part in a summer school abroad.
