Radiological Assistance is a 3-year bachelor´s study programme completed by a final state exam made up of an oral exam and defence of the student´s diploma thesis. It is a full-time study programme. All the subjects are taught in the Czech language only.
It is recognised as a non-medical profession suitable for work at hospitals. Graduates get employed by workplaces specialising in radio diagnostics, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine.
The students of this programme acquire general medical knowledge in the area of anatomy, physiology or pathology as well as in other specific disciplines, where radiology methods are used. An essential part of radiology is complex software equipment, for that reason, the students learn about informatics, image processing or how to work with databases. They learn in detail about individual imaging and treatment methods (e.g. computer tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, and radiotherapy). They also get familiar with pharmacology and nursing, so that they can provide specific care like giving contrast agents to patients.
Radiology Assistants are experts specialising in activities related to ionizing radiation and other methods used for diagnostic and medical treatment purposes. They are experts in the area of radiation sources and are able to adjust their utilisation to the requirements of clinical practice. They work with equipment and sources of radiation and at the same time are competent to provide specific performance during the treatment of patients and dealing with some medical products.
Students undergo practical training at various facilities providing healthcare both in and outside the Liberec Region.
It is possible for students to study abroad within the Erasmus + student exchange programme or take part in a summer school abroad.
